Application Process
The application for an Ohio psychologist license is available on the eLicense portal.
*Please note: You must add your degree/credentials as you would like them to appear on your license in the "last name" field, as there is not a field available to display academic degrees.
Once you have created an account, you will then be directed to a page on which you will choose "APPLY FOR A NEW LICENSE." Select "Psychology Board" and then the "Psychologist" option under "Select a License." Finally, under "Select an Application Type," select from the following: General, Reciprocity, or Senior. Upon saving and continuing through the eligibility questions, you will proceed through the application documenting your personal information, background information, conduct and legal questions, and attestations before submitting your application. You will be directed to a secure payment site to process your payment. Following payment of the fee, you will receive an automated email and a receipt.
Submitting Materials to the Board
In addition to the application and fee, there are several things we’ll need to determine compliance with the requirements to be admitted to examination(s). Transcripts and training verification forms are all accepted from the original source only by fax 614-728-7081 or email to info@psy.ohio.gov. The last step in the licensure process is the oral examination. EPPP-2 Clarification: Ohio is Not an Early Adopter
The Ohio Board of Psychology is a member of the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards (ASPPB), the owner and administrator of the EPPP examination program for psychologist licensure in the U.S. and Canada. ASPPB will be offering its member boards the option of requiring a passing score on a "skills" examination as part of a pre-licensure examination process, the EPPP-2, beginning in January 2020.
The Ohio Board will not be an early adopter of the EPPP-2. Therefore, Ohio licensure will continue to require a passing score on the current EPPP during 2020 and until further notice. Should the Board decide to require the EPPP-2 in the future, advance notification will be given, and this page will be updated with a timeline of implementation.
